Yarnocturnally

I’ve been so wrapped up with work and the boys and the animals that I just haven’t taken the time to update.

Work is getting a little easier each week. I’m starting to get to the point where I can leave on time most days and I’m getting a handle on the things I have to do while I’m there. I will always have 60 hour weeks and I will always have to get up at 3:30 in the morning, but I’m learning to deal with that. It’s the extremely low pay scale that I still have a problem with. If my “raise” doesn’t come through pretty soon, I’ll be looking elsewhere in the very near future. I’m giving it two more pay cycles, because that puts me at the three month mark. If I don’t see an increase by then, I’m out. I refuse to work my ass off for what equals out to be just barely $7.50 an hour right now. So one more month will tell the tale I guess.

The kids… well there have been some adjustments. The boys get along pretty well, and B has handled it all better than I thought he would, having been an only child his whole life till now. There have been some issues, but they are mostly my issues. I get pissed when I come home from a ten or twelve hour day and my house is a pigsty, litter not scooped, dog not cared for, etc. I’m not real happy that someone has started going through my things and has helped himself to money I am saving for a special purpose. I went down today and purchased a safebox and a deadbolt for my bedroom door. I’m also not very happy to have caught my youngest one getting high in my garage a week ago. Now I have to do random drug tests on top of counting every bill and coin and watching over things that could be pawned or sold.

Today there will be a family meeting and we will discuss acceptable behavior. If I have to get the law involved to get these boys in line, I have two cops on call who are more than willing to stop by and have a lil chat with my boys. I’m over it and I will just not accept theft, drugs, lying, sneaking etc. So they will fall into line or I will put them on it and tie their asses to it.

And the critters… well, we added two new ones this month. A very tiny kitten the boys found on the 4th, he was about 5 weeks old at the time and is blind due to an eye infection he probably got while his eyes were still closed. We named him Echo and we are getting his eyes treated, later we will have them surgically cleaned out and sewn shut to prevent more infections.

Then, we adopted a 4 yr old Siamese female from the SPCA. We were already in the process of adopting her when the boys found Echo. We still need to give her a new name, she came with the name Bandita but we aren’t happy with that so we’re trying to figure out something that fits better. She’s a tough lil thing, having come from a home where she was one of 50 cats… she haz a tuff. She’s been kicking Tux’s ass on a daily basis. He haz a stupid it seems She was kicking his ass two days after she was spayed lol. He hasn’t learned yet, but maybe someday he’ll learn lol. Other than Tux though, everyone else has accepted both her and the baby.

Hubby is still gone, we have 10 more months till he comes home. I miss him like hell. These ten months cannot pass fast enough. Once he’s back though, he’ll be back for good. He’ll do 3 yrs shore duty then he’ll retire.

Not too much else going on, but this is my only day off so I wanted to pop in and say hello =) Now I’ve got to go spend most of the rest of my day cleaning and doing laundry and all the stuff I don’t have the time or energy to do during the week. Hope all is well with you all!
